It might just be the fresh look the franchise needed to get Langdon back out and investigating oddities both with real history and a whole load of fake invention. Here's the franchise in chronological order. Ron Howard - who directed all three movies - clearly took criticisms of the first movie to heart too, and ensured the sequel moved at a quicker pace and didn't get overly bogged down in exposition.
It's certainly much more enjoyable than 's Inferno , which sees Langdon suffering from some plot convenient amnesia while racing against time to stop a plot that will wipe out half the planet's population. Inferno's story barely holds together and the movie occasionally drags even more than The Da Vinci Code. This review Helped me decide. Had useful details. Read my mind. Report this review. I love this movie I just watched this film with my parents and sister because they know that I love Tom Hanks movies.
The main reason why I really like this movie is because it has sort of a Jack Reacher feel. This title contains: Positive role models. Teen, 14 years old Written by MovieMonster February 14, This movie has way too much talk and not so much action. I think it should be fine for anyone over This should not be classified as a action movie. Teen, 14 years old Written by SaltieChips December 30, I found it surprisingly bloody for the violence in a film of this rating.
A man practices corporal mortification in one disturbing sequence. References to sex, and a brief scene of full male rear nudity. Brilliant movie The first time I watched it, I was 7, and I thought that it was awesome.
I've always been a fan of mystery and puzzles, so if there are any fellow mystery lovers out there, I would highly recommend this. I'd say the only part that's intended for mature audiences is the part where Silas tortures himself Which my dad had skipped over at the time , and as long as you skip that part, the movie is quite fine and watchable for younger audiences. There's a bit of swearing and violence in the movie too, but it's mostly stuff you can get over. Other than that, its overall great movie, I'd say one of Hanks' better ones too.
This title contains: Positive Messages. Positive role models. Teen, 14 years old Written by roses September 13, Could have been much better Honestly, I went into this movie thinking it was going to be the best thing ever. I was wrong. I just watched National Treasure last night, and this film looks weak in comparison to it. That part even spooked me out. Kid, 11 years old July 28, Stop giving this great movie bad reviews This movie doesn't have much wrong with it not for children under 14 tho because of the scene where silas beats himself.
Kid, 12 years old July 27, People say there is to much violence don't listen, A mature 10 year old can handle it. Based on the third book in the bestselling series, symbologist Robert Langdon is back to reveal the adventures of his early years.
Tom Hanks will not reprise his famous role, instead replaced by a younger version of himself played by veteran television actor Ashley Zukerman. With a new lead character, many fans of the Brown franchise are eagerly anticipating the return of their favorite clue seeker.
But this allusion to "recent Church mysteries" is so faint, that it might as well be referring to anything else, since Robert Langdon seems to be repeatedly involved in Vatican intricacies due to his job but it's highly likely it does refer to Da Vinci Code indeed. But that's pretty much the amount of connection there is between the films. And Inferno doesn't even have that since contrary to the first two films, it doesn't really feature the Catholic church much at all.
There is also the mystery of Robert Langdon's Mickey Mouse watch, which is shown a few times in previous films without ever giving an explanation about it, and which is only elaborated a little more in Inferno still not going beyond one sentence, though , as also explained in this related question.
But if that really counts as significant cross-movie character development is debatable. So you can really watch them in any order that you deem fit and it doesn't change the experience or impact of the movies' stories and characters at all.
